1. Chrome OS is actually not a new idea
The idea of a Operating System that works exclusively with web applications is not new at all. In fact, Splashtop is another similar Linux-based OS that has existed long before Chrome OS appeared. Many modern notebooks and netbooks come with Splashtop preinstalled within Windows 7. With these new laptop, instead of booting up to windows, you can just hit a special hot key and have an instant access to the internet within seconds. My laptop, a sony vaio E, has Splashtop and it takes no more than 25 seconds to log in to my email from a cold boot. Unlike Chrome OS which uses Google Chrome as the default browser, Splashtop uses a browser that is similar to Firefox and you can use all the web applications like Picasa, Evernote or Meebo without any problem.

2. Chrome OS is not for gamers
Though Linux - the OS that I'm using and advocating for- has its disadvantage with gaming, I still can use Wine to play the games I love. There are no options for you when using Google Chrom OS ( web based games are the exception of course). And since I still want to play COD to emulate Anders Breivik someday( joking :D), Google Chrome OS is surely not a choice for me.
3. You cannot choose your web browser
I'm a devoted advocate for Linux because of the freedome Linux provides. When using Linux, if you dont like something you can change and customize it as you prefer. But that cannot happen with Chrome OS. Simply Chrome OS is the Google Chrome browser. There is not any other choice for you. The browser is your OS and everything being marketed about it revolves around the features of the browser itself. Meaning that you will never be able to install another browser no matter how much you want to, and that is surely what I hate. What also surprises me on this is that Microsoft gets a lot of criticisms for providing Internet Explorer with Windows, but Apple and Google get to provide their own built browsers in their products with no question.
4. You have to have internet connection all the time
Because Chrome OS is a web-based OS, you have to have internet connection all the time and we still cannot provide wifi connection in every place on earth. And if you think it's not an issue to consider because you never travel, just think about what if some natural catastrophes like hurricanes or earthquakes happen, your notebooks will be useless then.
5. Google can access your data
As I said above, Chome OS comes with no local data storage so your data will be stored in Google's servers. Just think about the case when the government forces Google to disclose your data because you are a pain in their ass, you will understand why you should not use Chrome OS. And even if they wont reveal your data to the government, Google is still be a target to the hackers working for the governments. Last year, there was a hacking campaign originated from China which attempted to hack Gmail to collect email passwords of U.S. and Asian officials, Chinese activists, military personnel, and journalists. So even if Google is reliable, it's still unwise to use Chome OS.
6. You should not give Google more power
Since Google has the dominant searching tool and monopolizes the internet advertizing business, Google is surely a dictator of the internet. And if Google can control the operating system market and access to the users' data, its power will be unimaginable. And as As Lord Acton said, “All power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”, you should never give Google more power by using Chrome OS.
